Albania Sends 30 Doctors to Help Italy

Thirty doctors from Albania flew into Italy to help with the current crisis in the hardest hit city Bergamo (located in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy).

Italy is one of the hardest hit countries in Europe. The death toll has reached 10,023 and 889 fatalities have occurred in the past 24 hours. Retired doctors and healthcare workers in Italy and across the globe are being called back into service as the fight against the coronavirus epidemic intensifies. In Italy, the situation stands out not only because of the length of the outbreak but also because more than 6,300 healthcare workers have tested positive for the virus. At least 50 doctors in Italy have died after falling ill with the virus.
